End of special Covid-19 treatment

 This year, many countries decided to treat the infection with Covid-19 the same as other respiratory infections. 

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has set April 1, 2023 as the end date of the special treatment of the Covid-19 infection. With this, of course, SMS notification of test results for Covid-19 will be discontinued as of May 6. On March 31, the OstaniZdrav application stopped working. Tests for self-testing for infection with Covid-19 will be available in pharmacies until June 24, 2023. Only recommendations for visitors to homes for the elderly and other social welfare institutions remain in force. 

In a different way, after more than three years of the agony of Covid-19, according to Worldometer data, Slovenia landed in fourth place in terms of the number of infections per million inhabitants. The Faeroe Islands, San Marino and Austria are listed in the first three places. 

According to the same source, Slovenia ranked sixteenth in terms of the number of deaths because of Covid-19 infection per million inhabitants. The first three places are followed by Peru, Bulgaria and Hungary. 

On a global scale, more than 685 million and 441 thousand infections with Covid-19 have been detected. The largest number of Covid-19 infections were detected in the USA, India, France, Germany and Brazil. 

The world has lost more than 6 million and 841 thousand people due to the infection with Covid-19. The USA, Brazil, India, Russia and Mexico lost the largest number of citizens due to the infection with Covid-19. The US is also the only country where more than a million people have lost their lives due to the infection with Covid-19.
