Illegal entries into Slovenia have increased
According to the data of the Uprava uniformirane policije, the Border Police Sector, by the end of May 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year in 2022, unauthorized entries into Slovenia had increased by as much as three times.
According to the same source, from the beginning of 2022 to the end of May 2022, the police handled 5.108 unauthorized entries into Slovenia. In 2023, by May 31, 15.456 unauthorized entries into Slovenia were detected. In this period of this year, citizens of Afghanistan (2.491), Morocco (2.221) and Russia (1.470) were most often processed for illegal entry into the country. With more than 1.000 unauthorized entries into Slovenia by the end of May 2023, citizens of Pakistan, Cuba and Bangladesh were dealt with the most.
Compared to the year 2022, in the period from January to the end of May, police officers discovered fewer unauthorized residences in Slovenia. Namely, 1.757 such cases were discovered in this period in 2022, and 1.055 in the same period in 2023. In 2022, the largest number of citizens who resided illegally in Slovenia during this period were from Albania, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia. In 2023, the largest number of citizens residing illegally in Slovenia were from Moldova, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
