Illegal migration are decreased

In the period from 01/01/2024 to 08/31/2024, the number of illegal migrants in Slovenia decreased compared to the same period in 2023. In this period this year, according to the data of the Uniformed Police Administration, Border Police Sector, there were 32,002 of them. In the same period in 2023, there were 36,140. Thus, compared to the same period last year, illegal migration decreased by more than 4,000. Citizens of Syria (the number of illegal migrants with Syrian citizenship increased), Afghanistan (the number of illegal migrants decreased this year) and Turkey (the number of illegal migrants increased this year) were most often dealt with for illegal migration or unauthorized entry into Slovenia. Turkey, which is in third place this year in terms of the number of illegal migrations to Slovenia, is also a member of NATO and for now belongs to the countries that are not in a state of war. That is why the number of Turkish illegal migrants to Slovenia is all the more interesti...

Migrants also flooded

Slovenia is a very "lucky" country. In 2022, almost the entire Karst landscape was on fire. In 2023, there were catastrophic floods in Slovenia. And of course, the number of unauthorized entries into Slovenia also increased in 2023. In fact, we also got a flood of illegal migration. Namely, in 2023 there were 84,1% more unauthorized entries into Slovenia. In 2022, there were 31.605 such unauthorized entries. In 2023, as many as 58.193. The largest number of unauthorized entries into Slovenia came from Afghanistan (30.6%), Morocco (15.2%) and Pakistan (8.9%), Russia and Bangladesh. With these data, I should mention that Celje, the third largest city in Slovenia, had 49.069 inhabitants in 2020. Or a better comparison is with Maribor, which had a population of 96.302 in 2022 and is the second largest city in Slovenia. And I don't think we can take solace in the fact that the capital city of Ljubljana has a much larger population of 293.218 than the number of migrants who cro...

Slovenia's inglorious entry into 2024

Slovenia is preparing to enter 2024 with inflation, a conflagration after last year's fires and a financial disaster after this year's floods, as well as an increased number of unauthorized entries into Slovenia. This is what some of the negative factors of this past year look like, and they will remain active negative factors in the everyday life of Slovenian citizens even in 2024. The number of illegal migrants who, despite all the gracious migration welcome in Slovenia, still enter Slovenia illegally, increased from last year's 30.141 to an infamous 55.230. Of course, the data is collected only until the end of November. Most illegal migrants are from Afghanistan, Morocco and Pakistan. "Only" 53.526 migrants expressed their intention for international protection. However, the number of illegal migrants living in Slovenia fell from last year's 3.969 to 1.940. The largest number of illegal migrants who resided illegally in Slovenia this year were from Moldova...

Security in the EU in the face of irregular migrants

We often wonder whether the European Union (EU) is still safe for its citizens to live in. Or simply there are unregistered residents wandering around the EU, even with the current "smell of war" near the EU borders, or potential spies, criminals or even soldiers under the guise of a refugee. The Russia-Ukraine war, which has lasted for more than a year and a half, which also borders the EU, also raises questions in our minds as to whether stricter control over the population has already been established in the EU, or control of so-called illegal residents in the EU. Of course, we also have to take into account the fact that now all migrants from Ukraine are legal migrants who can apply for a residence permit in the EU. And of course we also hope that their identity is verified. Currently, illegal migrants are only migrants from other countries that are not members of the EU. And there are not a few of them this year either. This is also confirmed by data from Frontex on the ...

Illegal entries into Slovenia have increased

According to the data of the Uprava uniformirane policije, the Border Police Sector, by the end of May 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year in 2022, unauthorized entries into Slovenia had increased by as much as three times. According to the same source, from the beginning of 2022 to the end of May 2022, the police handled 5.108 unauthorized entries into Slovenia. In 2023, by May 31, 15.456 unauthorized entries into Slovenia were detected. In this period of this year, citizens of Afghanistan (2.491), Morocco (2.221) and Russia (1.470) were most often processed for illegal entry into the country. With more than 1.000 unauthorized entries into Slovenia by the end of May 2023, citizens of Pakistan, Cuba and Bangladesh were dealt with the most. Compared to the year 2022, in the period from January to the end of May, police officers discovered fewer unauthorized residences in Slovenia. Namely, 1.757 such cases were discovered in this period in 2022, and 1.055 in the same p...

The smell of war and tighter control

The European Union (EU) condemned the incursion of Russian military units into the territory of Ukraine in 2022 and thereby earned the attention of the Russian intelligence services, as so-called Russian spies are often discovered in the territory of the EU in recent times.  Increased control or control of the movement of the population and increased control over the social contacts of the population in the EU area or better restrictions on movement and personal contacts have already been known since 2020, which was marked by the Covid-19 epidemic and is expected to end this year, or in 2023.  We have also known for a long time the lax action of the police in the event of property disturbance. The property right is clearly defined as the express right to manage of one's real estate. And as property rights are defined, nobody should use areas and buildings owned by others without the consent of the owners.  Perhaps it is precisely because of the "smell of war" in Ukr...
