Would we dig trenches again
We are already looking at the sky again and fearing the accumulation of clouds and of course what will fall from the sky.
Human has not controlled nature since prehistoric times. This means that we do not create clouds, rain, storms, winds, swollen rivers, torrents, raging seas, etc.
And of course, that's why, in the face of such natural phenomena, we still only have a preventive retreat to safety.
There used to be ditches along the road, where excess water from the roadway flowed. We used to know torrential ravines, so that the water did not stagnate in the hill. And we used to know the fluctuating water level of the river depending on the natural rainfall. That's why sometimes we didn't build along the rivers, even though we also knew how to use the water flow of the river with water mills. Sometimes they even believed that rivers that overflowed their banks in autumn or spring fertilized the fields along the river with silt. Sometimes we even collected rainwater, which did not all flow into the rivers, as we used it for watering during the dry season. And we used to complain about river pollution with faeces and other waste, followed by other chemical waste.
I could go on and on about what we used to know or not know in order to try to tame Mother Nature or at least mitigate or take advantage of natural unpredictable events.
Today, rivers are a natural social asset that is very difficult to appropriate. Of course, as always, it gets complicated with the management and effective management of the so-called natural wealth. Or simply, all management and management of natural wealth is left to mother nature.
At least this year, the rivers, which of course are still uncrossable, have caused damage to state/social and private property several times. And the problem arises whether we can solve this natural problem and the destructive action of nature.
Of course, because of this attempt to solve the problem of the destructive action of nature, a new problem arises: is it better to deepen the rivers and thereby destroy the natural fauna and flora in them, or to dig additional ditches next to them, where additional excessive amounts of water from rivers and streams would flow .
And, of course, the question remains, because nature is unpredictable and so is the river, is it not better to just let nature work. Either way, things will resolve themselves quite naturally. Until they are resolved, we will just retreat to safety and later list all the material damage.
I only hope that we are still so unnaturally smart that where Mother Nature has already destroyed fields, roads, and buildings, we will not build or rebuild anymore.
