Scale of life and death
Life is supposed to be unique and unrepeatable and therefore especially valuable. And at least human life should also be specially protected.
Most religions agree with this definition, even those that proclaim the separation of the soul, as an eternal form of life, from the body, which is transitory. Or those religions that proclaim life again in another form or reincarnation.
Of course, this also raises the question of the value of human life, which is said to have an inestimable value. And yet the question also arises as to what life should be worth to a person.
And of course, with such a way of thinking, a certain group of people can come to the conclusion that their life is not worthy of a human being and simply because of this they are not afraid of death or even want to die.
Such a question should be decided in Slovenia at a referendum on euthanasia or permitted assistance in execution. Of course, euthanasia is supposed to be a freely expressed wish to be executed.
One's own life and the lives of others are already decided anyway, even when we decide on wars or the death penalty, which should no longer be carried out. Or we simply calmly watch a person die for one reason or another without even trying to help him.
Some people also decide to use weapons or rebel when their lives no longer seem worth human life itself. Such an example was the organization of resistance against fascism and Nazism in Slovenia, or the organization of the Liberation Front (OF) during the occupation of Slovenia. Although the very organization of the rebellion against the occupiers meant that you were literally staring future death in the eye. We still celebrate this day in Slovenia every April 27th.
Thus, the concept and evaluation of human life will always remain the subject of general social debate. But we can only hope that each person will be able to decide on their own free will the value of their life and also their desire to die.
