Intolerance towards migrants or the economic crisis

Demonstrations have risen again against migrants, especially illegal ones, who subsequently apply for international protection after illegally crossing the state or Schengen borders of the EU.

Of course, interpretations of the protection of migrants' rights are different.

For most countries on a global scale, illegal border crossing is considered a crime. And here migrants who state that they are at risk in other countries and, of course, often also citizens of countries outside the alliances, should not be an exception.

Most countries rely not only on a professional army to defend the country, but also on the military mobilization of their citizens in the event of a greater threat of war. In many countries, the duty to defend one's country is also among the constitutionally defined duties of their citizens. Slovenia also has this duty of its citizens enshrined in its constitutional Constitution, as the highest legal act of Slovenia.

This is how the rights and duties of citizens of individual countries are evaluated. And, of course, it is very questionable whether it is really intolerance towards illegal migrants or a comparison of one's civil rights and duties with those of migrants. And maybe even the fear that when there is a threat of war, the citizens of individual countries will just leave their countries instead of defending them from aggressors. And so the peoples or citizens of individual countries without their own territory will just accumulate in other countries.

Of course, it is necessary to mention the economic crisis in connection with this migrant issue. The economy of the EU (European Union) has already been sufficiently affected by the Covid-19 epidemic with all the costs of prevention and treatment of Covid-19 patients, as well as the complete closure of economic activities and industries as a result of preventive measures to contain the pandemic and the Covid-19 epidemic.

In 2023, on top of everything else, Slovenia was hit by widespread floods. In this year, 2024, the entire EU. So that this year will most likely be marked as the year of natural disasters that affected the basic living standards of EU residents.

And again, aid to flood victims, who lost all their property and also their homes, can be compared with aid to migrants. At a minimum, the flood victims would also benefit from immediate accommodation in homes, or state assistance in finding a place to live.

The reality is that countries do not treat their citizens and migrants equally. This can be heard on all sides of our planet Earth.

After all, we also hear the same from the USA, where the homeless have also appeared due to this year's natural disasters, from floods to tornadoes and hurricanes, as well as heavy rainfall with hail.
